Macau offers two very different excuses to pack your running shoes. One is a large marathon morning with a stadium start and bridge crossings. The other is a small charity outing where families can join the walk. The best choice depends on the day you want, not just the medal you want.

Our verified Macau catalogue currently covers two 2026 events. Here they are in descending published size context. We have not padded the list to ten or invented dates for a future edition.

Macao International Marathon: the main race-weekend choice

For a substantial race trip close to Hong Kong, this is the one to plan around. The 2026 quota is 2,000 marathon, 5,000 half-marathon and 5,000 mini-marathon places. Do not mistake the combined 12,000 for the full-marathon field.

The published marathon and half-marathon route includes the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, A-Ma Temple and Sai Van Bridge. Treat the course as part of the attraction; a bridge crossing is a good reason to read the route rather than assume a flat sightseeing jog.

The organizer now states that all categories are full. A still-visible account or login page does not reopen entry. Follow our Macao International Marathon 2026 details, the official information and the current homepage notice.

Already entered? Plan for the collection day

Race packs are collected at Broadway Macau on 2–5 December, with the registration receipt and identification document. The start is at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Taipa. Marathon and half-marathon start at 06:00; the mini starts at 06:20. Picking a hotel near packet collection is not the same as staying near the start.

The published limits are six hours for the marathon, three for the half and one hour fifteen minutes for the mini. Check intermediate cutoffs as well as the final limit. The organizer prohibits selling or transferring bibs. See its regulations before making plans around somebody else’s entry.

Run of Hope Macau: a different kind of finish line

Run of Hope is the better match for a social morning or a family trip. Four Seasons Hotel Macao’s event supports cancer research at Kiang Wu Hospital and other Macau charities. The 5.6K competitive run is separate from the 3K family walk, both starting and finishing at the hotel.

The organizer reported nearly 400 participants in 2025 across the event. That smaller scale is part of its appeal if you want a community outing rather than a marathon production. It does not establish a 2026 quota.

The 2026 date is 1 November, the day after this guide’s check. The organizer’s September announcement invited individual and team registration, but that does not guarantee last-minute availability. Confirm directly before setting off. Read our Run of Hope Macau page, Four Seasons’ announcement and the entry website.

Which Macau race suits your trip?

Choose the marathon programme if you want a timed endurance goal, a larger field and a full race-weekend routine. Pick your distance first: a half marathon is a different training commitment from the approximately 5K mini.

Choose Run of Hope if you value a shared morning and the charity purpose. Walkers and runners can join different activities without pretending that everyone wants a long race.

For the 2026 dates, the immediate action is limited: the marathon is full and Run of Hope is imminent. If you have no confirmed place, use this guide to shortlist the event and watch for the next organizer announcement. No 2027 date or entry window is claimed here.

A practical Macau running weekend

Allow time for bib collection and the journey to your specific start. For an early race, staying overnight can make the morning simpler, but compare the hotel location with the official start map before booking. Plan the return journey around your own finish, changing and meal time rather than the first possible departure.
