Taiwan Marathons 2026–2027: 10 Races and Entry Tips

Compare 10 Taiwan races for 2026–2027, from Taipei and Kaohsiung to Tianzhong and Kinmen, with published sizes, entry deadlines and race detail links.

Taiwan is a dangerous place to make a strict post-race food plan. Taipei invites a city weekend, Tainan makes a strong case for staying longer, and Tianzhong turns a running trip into a visit to a farming town. Start with the race you want, then leave room for the rest.

These ten picks span major city events, a reservoir course and an island weekend. Entry snapshot: 31 October 2026. Most listed windows have already closed. Use the guide to compare confirmed editions and prepare for the next opening, rather than assuming a future race date means available entry.

Ten Taiwan races: size, dates and trip style

The first six rows are ordered by their published combined quotas, with the measure identified. The remaining picks add variety where a comparable total was not verified; they are not a claim to be Taiwan’s next four largest races.

Capacity is not turnout. Nor is the number of applicants a field size: Taipei’s reported 79,115 applications are not 79,115 accepted runners. Each linked profile below points to the relevant official evidence.

Taipei Marathon: the large city-race experience

Taipei’s 2026 main programme offers 9,000 marathon and 19,000 half-marathon places, plus a separate 30-place wheelchair half. The marathon limit is five hours thirty minutes; the half is three hours. A shorter distance does not mean an unlimited morning.

The city reports that its draws have already taken place and paid international entries include many Hong Kong runners. The attraction is clear, but this is no longer a general-entry opening to chase. For an existing place, check your collection arrangements and different finish locations.

Read our Taipei Marathon 2026 page, the official regulations and city registration update.

Standard Chartered Taipei: a distance for more of the group

The published programme includes marathon, half, 12K and 3K categories. Its 26,500 combined places are the sum of 4,700, 9,800, 9,000 and 3,000 category quotas, not a full-marathon count. It is useful when friends want different distances on the same trip.

General registration ended on 30 October 2026 at 16:00. For accepted runners, in-person collection is planned for 7–9 January; check the final location rather than assuming delivery to Hong Kong.

Use our Standard Chartered Taipei details and official category and date page.

Tainan Half Marathon: let the city share the spotlight

Tainan is our pick for a race trip with a strong food-and-culture theme. The city promotes its historic streets and local food as part of the event, with a 21.0975K goal for runners who want a substantial race without a full-marathon build-up.

The 2027 programme’s 25,000 places are already full, according to the city’s 22 September announcement. That is across four categories, not 25,000 half-marathon starters. Follow the next release if you missed this one.

See our Tainan Half Marathon page and the city’s sold-out announcement.

NS RUN: a Taipei trip with a shorter race

NS RUN offers half-marathon, 10K and 3K choices. Its women’s early-start groups add another practical reason to read your own instructions rather than copy a friend’s start time. The 3K has separate run/walk subcategories.

The official rules give a 30 September 2026 registration cutoff. Keep the 22 November edition as a comparison or an already-entered trip, not an open invitation. Published subcategory quotas sum to 14,000 across the programme.

Compare our NS RUN edition page, event information and official rules.

Kaohsiung Fubon Marathon: a stadium finish in the south

Kaohsiung offers a different city base and a point-to-point long-distance programme, from Times Boulevard to the National Stadium. The 5K leisure event is on 9 January; marathon and half are on 10 January 2027. Do not book the wrong morning from a weekend’s start date.

The organizer lists 3,500 marathon, 6,500 half and 3,000 leisure places. Its late additional-entry window ended on 28 October. Accepted runners should plan around different start and finish locations.

See our Kaohsiung Fubon Marathon page and official registration platform.

Wan Jin Shi: choose the coast, plan the transfer

Wan Jin Shi puts the north coast on your race map. The programme has 6,500 marathon and 5,500 10K places. The organizer offers race-day shuttle purchases; check your pickup point and departure time before choosing a Taipei hotel.

The general application window closed at noon on 30 October, with draw results due 3 November. Its published foreign-national exemption from the draw has its own eligibility and payment rules; Hong Kong residency alone does not establish the applicable category.

Read our Wan Jin Shi Marathon page and official FAQ.

Tianzhong: make the town part of the trip

Tianzhong is a refreshing choice if “Taiwan race” usually means Taipei to you. The event’s farming-town identity is a reason to spend time locally, rather than race and leave. Transport deserves attention: the organizer publishes special train arrangements for race morning.

The physical event is 8 November 2026, and registration has closed, including the overseas route. A separate virtual-run postponement does not move the in-person race. Follow our Tianzhong Marathon page and the official edition notices.

Kinmen: give the island its own weekend

The 20th Kinmen Marathon programme runs on two days. The 4K is on 16 January, while marathon, half and 10K are on 17 January 2027. It is an appealing alternative to another city-centre itinerary, but allow time for the island journey and collection.

General entry closed on 30 October at 17:00. Check our Kinmen Marathon details against the official programme. A weekend date range should never hide the day your race actually starts.

Zengwen Reservoir: scenery with a different challenge

For a smaller setting, consider Zengwen’s reservoir roads. Its official programme offers a marathon, 21.3K challenge, 12K and 3K. The 21.3K should not be presented as a standard half marathon. The published quotas sum to 3,800, including just 500 marathon places.

The regulations scheduled entry to finish on 2 October. Look at the route and access plan before treating a reservoir race like a city hotel-to-start walk. See our Zengwen Reservoir page, city introduction and organizer regulations.

Taichung Metropolitan Half: a shorter January target

Taichung’s 17 January programme offers 21K, 10K and 3.5K. Choose it if you want a city trip with a shorter-distance focus. The event page lists Central Field in Xitun as the venue and separate category starts.

Registration closed early on 15 October, replacing the original later deadline. The pack information describes postal delivery, so an overseas entrant must confirm an accepted arrangement rather than assume race-day pickup. Use our Taichung Metropolitan Half page and official event instructions.

Plan the entry before the food tour

Keep the fun part, but settle the practical part first: accepted identification, overseas payment, final entry confirmation, collection and start-day transport. A domestic delivery option may not cover your address. A lottery registration is not an accepted place.

For a new application after this snapshot, open our Taiwan race calendar and use the open-entry filter instead of assuming one of these ten has reopened. Comparing destinations? See our Japan marathon guide too.
